This training is for:
· Anyone interested in strategies and techniques to include woman and minority-owned businesses onto construction project teams.
· Consultants who are WMBE Experts for construction work.
· Consultants who wish to become WMBE Experts
· Internal staff for Prime Contractors of Public Works
· Interested subcontractors
Training Purpose:
This training will guide the audience through strategies, techniques, and perspectives on including WMBE firms within construction project teams.
· Understanding the Client
· New City WMBE Construction Inclusion Plan.
o Explain how to fill out the form
o Explain how the City will review and score the form to determine responsiveness
o Working with your WMBE Expert
· Procurement Phase
o Unbundling work into WMBE friendly components
o Obtaining subcontract bids
o Outreach to WMBE firms
o To-do and not-to-do
o Building relationships
· Contractors’ Panel that consists of primes and subcontractors
o From the prime’s perspective –(the latest winners)
o From the subcontractor’s perspective
· You won, now what?
o Establishing the Team – Owner’s Rep, Prime and WMBE Expert
o Technical assistance to keep your subcontractor on track
o Orienting your subs to your business
o Attending progress meetings
o Services to keep the WMBE performance on track
o Recommended templates that primes can use to solicit bids
