The City of Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) is requesting proposals from qualified consultants with expertise in landscape and/or horticulture training and education to plan, implement, and evaluate SPU’s “Green Gardening Program”, through the development of a proposed SPU Consultant Contract for the years 2014 through 2016, with the possibility of extending the Contract by an Amendment through 2018.

Briefly, this is a multi-faceted program to educate and train individuals (including those for whom English is a second language) and organizations representing a variety of disciplines to design, install, and maintain landscapes in a manner that decreases the use of toxic products, including pesticides, herbicides, and fungicides. In addition to direct training and education activities, a variety of related work is needed, including partnership development with other entities, and the development of strategy and possibly new activities to achieve the program’s objectives.

The estimated cost of this proposed SPU Consulting Contract is $700,000-$725,000 for the maximum five-year duration through 2018.
