Project Title: South Park Community Center Site Redevelopment
RFQ Due Date: 4/26/2019, 4:00pm
Scope of Work: Seattle Parks and Recreation (SPR) is seeking the services of a creative, multi-disciplinary design team led by a Landscape Architect registered in the State of Washington to conduct a process to finalize the sitewide redevelopment of the South Park Community Center’s campus from the design development phase to project closeout. The campus lies immediately adjacent to a major transportation corridor. The design team should possess knowledge of proven methods used to mitigate negative health impacts from particulate matter. The team should also include an expert on field design who can address the need for a multi-sport field with turf and lighting as well as an engagement specialist well versed in community workforce agreements. The team should be able to implement the principles of crime prevention through environmental design and possess cultural competency in order to develop an equitable approach to this project.
The South Park community demonstrates great diversity in the languages spoken, ethnicities present and the economics of its constituents. The consultant team should have demonstrated knowledge of the character and culture of the South Park community as well as the community’s strengths and needs. The consultant should possess the ability to approach this project with a race and social justice and health impact mitigation lens while being culturally responsive to the needs of the community.
