Youth Stormwater Education
SPU RFP/Contract# 22-055-S

Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) is requesting proposals from qualified consultants to partner with their Drainage and Wastewater line of business (DWW) in the delivery of stormwater education. DWW manages and delivers stormwater education to Seattle students through partnerships with Seattle schools, community organizations, and contractors. The scope of this contract will include development and delivery of stormwater curriculum, including Stormwater Field Programs, Salmon in the Schools, Duwamish River Experience, and RainWise lessons; school and teacher recruitment; Salmon in the Schools technical tank assistance; teacher professional development; and program administration and reporting. The Youth Stormwater Education program connects DWW priority messaging with classroom and field-based STEM programming that meets statewide science and civics learning standards.

Stormwater education plays an important role in connecting students to their local waterways, and preparing them to become ecologically minded adults who understand the City’s stormwater infrastructure and the importance of stormwater pollution prevention. The Youth Stormwater Education program is also an important part of how SPU meets it’s National Pollution Discharge and Elimination System(NPDES) Education and Outreach requirements, which identifies school aged children as a priority audience.

The Contract will be executed for a period of three (3) years, with the option to extend up to an additional two (2) years. The estimated initial Contract value is $350,000.

Interested consultants are encouraged to review the RFQ/P, background documents, and any RFQ/P addenda online at https://seattle.procureware.com/home. You must log in to register for Bid Events and to view Bid Question and Response information.

The deadline for submitting Qualifications/Proposals is 2:00 PM Pacific Time on Thursday, July 7, 2022, electronic only via e-mail to SPU_SolicitationResponses@seattle.gov.
