Project: SDOT 18-053 BALLARD BRIDGE PLANNING STUDY
The City of Seattle, through Seattle Department of Transportation, requests proposals from qualified firms for SDOT 18-053 Ballard Bridge Planning Study.
This contract is estimated to be in the range of $600K-$900K with the time of performance expected to be between Q4 2018 – Q3 2019.
The Ballard Bridge carries more than 57,000 vehicles per day across the Salmon Bay Waterway. Even though the bridge is over 100 years old and appears to be in fair condition, the bridge is showing signs of deteriorating and is deemed functionally obsolete based upon the current transportation needs of this corridor. Knowing that the replacement of the bridge structure could potentially be a significant cost to the City, as part of the Levy to Move Seattle, funding was provided to conduct a planning study that would explore rehabilitation and replacement options and identify the associated costs and trade-offs. Possible Amendment: Should SDOT executives and/or elected officials recommend further investigation of a preferred alternative this project scope would be amended to provide a Type, Size, & Location Study which the City of Seattle (City) could then use to develop a funding strategy for design and construction.
