CONSULTANT SERVICES
Project: SDOT 14-108 ADA Self Evaluation – Supplemental Survey
The City of Seattle, through Seattle Department of Transportation, requests Statements of Qualifications (SOQ) from qualified engineering firms for SDOT 14-108 ADA Self Evaluation – Supplemental Survey.
This contract is estimated to be up to $750,000 with the time of performance expected to be between March 2015 and December 2015. Additional phases may be added at a future date to include additional sidewalk surveys for up to an additional $750,000 depending on performance and available budget.
In compliance with the 1992 American Disabilities Act, the City of Seattle is required to undertake a comprehensive survey of our facilities and services and determine all aspects that are non-compliant. In 2008, an inventory was undertaken to determine curb ramp locations and perform sidewalk assessment. This scope of work shall entail supplementing the data SDOT currently has to create a more comprehensive picture to aid in the creation of a Transition Plan. This would include but not be limited to:
Infrastructure Elements Requiring Re-evaluation and Verification
- Locations where ramps exist and don’t exist (including traffic islands)
- Configuration (including islands and cut-throughs)
- Standard Plan Ramp Type
- Curb Ramp Install Date
- Detectable Warnings (Color, Material, and Mount Type)
- Condition Assessment & Assessment Date2
Additional Proposed Infrastructure Elements
- Ramp Width, Running Slope and Cross Slop
- Surface Type
- Location of Ramps relative to Marked Crosswalks
- Lower Landing (adequate clear space, running slope, counter slop tot ramp, and non-standard transition)
- Flare Slope
- Upper Landing (adequate clear space and slopes)
- Elevation change at bottom of ramp
- Evaluation of Existence of Maximum Extent Feasible (MEF) conditions
- Inventory of known triggered, but not installed curb ramps
